What got me started!
In 2003 I went to Las Vegas to be a part of the Richard Petty Driving Experience which is an opportunity to drive a real Nascar car. I drove 8 laps to reach 124 mph, and got the bug for racing! Watching a race and driving a race are two totally different things. To be in a race is both intimidating and thrilling at the same time, but I knew it was something I wanted to do.

In 2004 I purchased a Legend car (an actual race car that’s only 5/8 scale and a lot cheaper than a full sized race car!). I practiced solo at a local track until I was confident enough to join the other Legend racers in 2005 and 2006 in Minnesota (there are no consistent Legend races in Wisconsin). With schedule changes and rain outs, I wasn’t able to get to the races as often as I wished, but always had fun when I got there!
This year because of family activities (which always come first) and the gas prices, I thought it would be better to stay closer to home, and I’ve found just the ticket.

They drive older full size stockcars (1930-1964). These cars are driven hard, but no contact is allowed. They go to race tracks in Minnesota, but also in Wisconsin, which will be easier on the wallet! But above all they enjoy what they do!
Well things have changed a bit!!! I put the Legend car up for sale on E-bay and sold it to a man in Bismark ,North Dakota, who plans on running it on dirt!!!
I started looking on E-bay for parts to start building a Vintage car and came across a 1966 Chevelle replica of "Smoke Yunick" race car!!! We are going to go pick it up as of 6/22/2007. We will let you know how the trip went.
The trip went great. We bought the car, loaded up and headed home. After an uneventful drive home I had my friend Greg Manor of Manor Race Shop Car Repair look the car over to see what has to be done. Because we will be racing on dirt, the first thing is to change the rear end ratio and install dirt tires.Because it has a GM rear end ,changing ratio are not easy. So we are installing a "9" ford rear end to make gear changes fast. Greg narrowed a 1979 Bronco rear end , converting it to coil springs and 4 link suspension. Great job!! Now all we have to do is scale the car and we are off to the races!!
" The Season has started!!!! , Check the 2010 Vintage club schedule for details. See you at the track!!
"Go Fast – Turn Left!”
